Bangkok

14 de Marzo del año 2555. Sí, hemos volado en el tiempo y ahora estamos en el año 2555 thailandés, es más, estamos a finales de año, porque el mes que viene comienza el 2556.

Nos levantamos pronto con ganas de visitar Bangkok, aunque con algo de jet lag y cansancio acumulado por dormir 2 noches seguidas en aeropuertos, pero la ciudad nos esperaba y no podíamos hacerla esperar ;-)

14th March year 2555. Yes, we're in the future and now is year 2555 in Thailand, and next month they'll celebrate New Year. We woke up with the idea of visiting Bangkok, but we had jet lag and tireness after sleeping two nights in airports, but the city was expecting us!

Por la mañana estuvimos paseando perdidos por los alrededores de Sanam Luang y sin darnos cuenta llegamos al mercado de los Amuletos. Ahí, un chico thailandés nos aconsejó ir con tuk-tuk al Wat In a ver el Gran Budha.

Después de unas cervecitas frescas y una Pad Thai, el plato típico thailandés que cuesta 30 B, no llega a 1 €, seguimos deambulando por la ciudad llegando al templo Ratchanatdaram y su bonito Loha Prasat. Seguimos haciendo ruta y nos encontramos con el Wat Suthat y el Columpio Gigante.

At morning we walked around Sanam Luang Park and we arrived to the Amulet Market. Then, a Thai guy adviced us to go by tuk-tuk to the War In and see the Big Budha.

After some cold beers and Pad Thai, the typical Thai meal (about 30B, less than a pond), we went to Wat Ratchanatdaran and its awseome Loha Prasat we're we spent some time. In or way to the hostel we found the Wat Suthat and the Giant Swing.

Un día más en Bangkok. Por la mañana fuimos al Palacio Real, dentro se encuentra el Wat Phra Kaew o el Templo del Budha Esmeralda. No llegamos a entrar para ver el Budha porque según la guía no se puede ver de muy cerca y la entrada costaba 400 B, unos 8 € por persona. Ya veremos si en Julio cuando volvamos entramos. La mañana la terminamos en el Wat Pho o Templo del Budha Reclinado. Esto sí que mereció los 100 B, 2€ por persona que pagamos. Es impresionante ver este Budha reclinado de 46 metros de largo y 15 de alto. Este Budha, que se encuentra en estado de Nirvana, está recubierto de pan de oro y la planta de sus pies tiene incustraciones de madreperla.

Después de encontrarnos con Marc, amigo de Simó de la universidad, nos fuimos juntos a ver la casa del arquitecto newyorkino Jim Thomson, una casa de arquitectura típica thailandesa.

A la hora de comer, Zay la amiga thailandesa de Marc, nos llevó al centro comercial MBK a comer comida típica thai. Toda una planta llena de diferentes puestos de comida, dónde tu comprabas unos cupones y los intercambiabas por la comida que querías, había de todo para elegir. Desde el famoso Pad Thai hasta comida vietnamita.

One more day in Bangkok. At morning we went to the Grand Palace, where we can find the Wat Phra Kaew o the Emerald Buddha's Temple. We didn't go in because the guide says we can't see the budha very close and the price was 400B (around 8€ per person). We can visit it when we come back in July. We finished the morning at Wat Pho and the Reclining Budha. It is amazing, the tremendous reclining Buddha, 46 meters long and 15 meters hight, illustrates the passing of the the Buddha into Nirvana. It's finished in gold leaf and his feet inlays ornaments of Mother of Pearl.

At midday we met Marc, a friend of Simó, and we went together to visit the Jim Thomson's house, an newyorker architect. It is a typical Thai house.

To have lunch, Zay, a Thai friend of Marc, took us to the MBK Shopping Center to eat Thai food. All the floor was plenty of different type of food shops, where you buy a coupon and exchange it for food, there was a lot to choose.

Hoy, viernes 16, el cielo estaba despejado, nada que ver con la polución de los días anteriores que no dejaba ver el azul del cielo... El sol cascaba (que se lo digan al cuello y la calva de Simó) así que hemos ido a ritmo de tortuga. Por la mañana hemos visitado el Wat Saket o el Templo Dorado, cuando nos hemos dado cuenta que no llevamos la tarjeta de la cámara! Bueno, ya puestos vemos el monte. Es curioso porque es una colina artificial, lo que da la altura son los escombros de un intento anterior de construir un Cheti. Es un monte precioso, no sé porque lo llamaran Dorado porque en realidad predomina el verde de la vegetación, igual la explicación se encuentra dentro, pero nosotros no hemos entrada ya que había que pagar y entrar sin cámara... volveremos en Julio!

Después de comer y recoger la tarjeta del hostal, nos hemos cruzado el río para ver el Wat Arun o Templo del Amenecer. Un templo con tropecientos escalones con una inclinación mortal, pero una vez arriba se ven unas vistas increíbles de la ciudad.

Today, Friday 16th, the sky was clear, not like the past days that the pollution didn´t let us see the blue sky. The sun was very clear and not with the polution of last days... The sun was burning us (specially Simo's head and neck) so we walked very slowly. First of all, we visited the Wat Saket or Golden Mound, when we realized we forgot the memory card of the camera! It's a curious place because it's an artificial mount, what gives it the height is the rubble of an previous try of build a cheti. It's really beautiful, I don't know why they call it Golden because it's actually green, maybe the explanation it's inside, but we didn't buy the ticket because we couldn't had done any picture, we'll be back in July!!

After have lunch and pick up the memory card from the hostel, we'd crossed the river to see the Wat Arun or the Temple of the Dawn. A temple with countless steps with a brutal slope, but once up at the top you have amazing views of Bangkok.

Hoy toca acostarse pronto que mañana toca madrugar para salir a Ayuthaya!

Today we have to go to bed early because tomorrow we have to wake up early to go to Ayuthaya!
